9-4 may not look like the best team in DVFFL history, but consider this: Garrett’s 2018 team averaged the most points ever, the most 100+ games ever and it led to a record third championship. It doesn’t get any more dominate than that. Oh and I’m sure beating Zach in the Finals helped make it a little sweeter too.

The team that brought Dylan his second championship and the first back-to-back championship in league history deserves to be honored. 10-3 after already going to the mountain top the season before is an impressive feat in it’s own right. But to win again? Greatness.

There is no other team that deserves the number 3 spot on this list than the 2022 squad that brought Dylan his 3rd championship. Dylan became the 5th team ever to make the playoffs after starting 1-4. From Week 6 on, his team only scored less than 90 points one time. As the 7th seed, Dylan eliminated the 10-4 #3 seed, the 10-4 #2 seed and then finally the 10-4 #1 seed in the Finals.

A return to glory and league leading 5th Finals appearance. Zach’s road to the ship started with devastating injuries with losing Herbert (QB4) in Week 14 and Hockenson (TE4) in Week 15. In Round 1, he beat Jesse, the highest scoring team in the league. Round 2 Zach beat the 10-4 #1 Seed, Brian. And finally beating the #8 seed Cinderella story, Alec for his 2nd Championship.

3rd highest score (164.34) in a week in league history, 2nd highest PPG in league history, and 1st DVFFL Championship, Cal’s 2024 squad was dominate. Averaging 121 ppg in the playoffs and 7 100+ games over the last 8 games of the season. This team finally solidified Cal’s case as one of the elite in the DVFFL.

Cody owns lots of terrible records and this team is the poster child for all of them. Lowest PPG ever. Worst record ever. In fact, Cody owns three of the lowest weekly scores ever (30, 31 and 39). On top of ALL of that, Cody received his first of three Sackos.

Mitch might want to try and be more like another team and less like Cody. Because this squad in 2018 proved how close he could get to emulating Cody’s 2016 squad. We’ve documented that Mitch has an aversion to scoring over 100+ points. Having only done it twice before this season. But this team really took everything to a new low. Ending with a Sacko.

I wrote this in 2016 about this team and it still holds true today:
”This is what giving up looks like.”

It takes a lot to kick Brandon off a losers list, but Garrett did it. This team was something special, 10 game losing streak, longest in league history, sort of sets the tenor of what to expect with this team. This team didn’t sniff a win until Week 11. It didn’t even crack 100 points until Week 13. To finish with the exact same record as Tucker, while techincally “trying to win,” is rough. Really rough. Outside of being a tarnish on Garrett’s resume, the team sadly didn’t win the Sacko – and we only have Cody to thank for that.

There are bad teams. And there are probably other teams that deserve this spot. However, no matter how many times Jesse wins the Sacko, it will never replace a team like this one. All season long we heard nothing but praise for this collection of mistakes. And for that, it will always be remembered as for what it really was: a complete shit show. To put this team in more contextual terms, this team for Cal averaged 10ppg less than Neal’s team. And Neal was kicked out the next year for not trying. Enjoy this Cal.
